I bought this as a present for family and unpacked it for testing. It says NO ALKALINE BATTERY OR MOVEMENT CAN BE DAMAGED. So I bought carbon (zink in Dutch) batteries especially for this clock. The Twelve o'clock position was not centered correctly so I had to unscrew the back and removed the spring metal things so I could center it correctly. Put the battery in and........WORKING !! At the back there is a plastic rotary to set the date and I checked if the date will pass after 24 hours and it did, so happy for now and hope my family will like it. I will buy another for myself (different model)
